Invitation from IMPACT trade union

IMPACT trade union will launch a specially commissioned report - ‘Caring- At What Cost?: Rebuilding and refinancing the community and voluntary sector’ – on Tuesday 22nd September in the Georgian Suite at Buswells Hotel, Molesworth Street, Dublin 2 at 11am.

The report, by Dr Chris McInerney of the University of Limerick, examines the experience and difficulties faced by workers in the community and voluntary sector throughout the economic crisis, the continued stagnation and retrenchment of their terms and conditions in a recovering economic climate, and examines the funding structures and mechanisms for agencies which rely on ‘Section 39’ funding from the HSE.

Are these funding structures still fit for purpose, or do we need a revised funding model in order to ensure agencies in the community and voluntary sector can meet modern service delivery demands?

Most Section 39 funded agencies provide vital services to some of the most vulnerable people in Irish society, including those who are homeless, older people in care, people with disabilities, young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and those dealing with drug and addiction issues.

We would like to invite you to attend this launch, which will include a presentation of the research findings by Dr. Chris McInerney, addresses from IMPACT’s National Secretary Louise O’Donnell, and interested employers in the sector.

It would be fantastic if you or a nominated representative from your organisation were able to attend this launch, spaces are limited so please RSVP confirming your attendance to Joe O’Connor, IMPACT Organiser, on joconnor@impact.ie
